Hey, I'#039m not in the market for buying, but just wanted to say that I recently went through similar issues with my dsg Mk5.
The problem was the mechatronics unit, which I had to get reconditioned. After that it was all good again.
Cost for me was about £500, but I'#039m in Poland, and I did the removal and refitting myself. So I don'#039t know how it would price up

Got a few hours in the garage tonight, and managed a '#039diy balance shaft delete'#039 After trying to get at it with an angle grinder, and making a mess, I spend some time with the Dremel and a few cutting disks before I got the cog

Hi all, first post here on the forums and new to MK5 GTI ownership. I'#039ve recently bought a high milage hero BWA GTI 245,000, and when I have being going about general maintenance, I'#039ve noticed that the bottom of the air filter housing has cracked and has a hole in it.
I don'#039t think there is any performance loss, and there is no lights on the dash or codes in the memor

After MOT advisories on front tyres wearing on inner edges - Had 4 wheel alignment done today, apparently it was 'miles out' - I know the steering wheel is straighter than it was but if I was really picky it's off to the other side now :D
Didn't get a print out to geek out over the values.

The inserts I bought didn'#039t fit '#039out of the box'#039 either. I was pretty miffed at the time but in the end took a stanley knife to both halves at the connecting '#039jigsaw'#039 tab to make the whole thing a little slimmer - just enough to make them fit.
As you say, there seems to be a few variations on the inner outline. I think the R32 has the rear luggage anchor points high

I'm definitely getting the rear ones as well, but a bit later cause this went way over budget. I'll be fitting braided lines too when I add the rears. I wanted to see how it'll feel with the S3 rubber lines first. Good find on the brake clips, I'll deffo look into them.
PSA - R32/S3 345mm Brake upgrade ABS module coding Brake Electronics J104 T47

Just a quick PSA for all of you who have/will be upgrading your brakes. from GTI or smaller to the 345mm S3/R32 brakes. The ABS module has 3 options for brakes. 15"quot, 15/16"quot and 17"quot. GTI'#039s might come with 17"quot set as standard, or 15/16"quot but cars like the Jetta or the A3 (both with the 2 liter engine) will most likely come with 15/16"quot set as standard even tho you have GTI brake

Just bought a used LP fuel pump from a 2013 VW Beetle 1.2 with the part number 1K0919051DB for just £20 - hopefully will fix the cold start for not much money!
Things to look out for when buying?

Got a 1T2 Touran which (other than the engine) is constantly giving me problems so I'#039m gon a bite the bullet and sort a replacement and since my lad got a 1.4 for his first car I quite fancy a GTi for myself so after a few pointers of problem areas to look out for.
Seen one relatively local, 04 just shy of 80k for £5000. Not done a proper history check on it yet but MOT

I used Trim Fix High Temp. It is an aerosol, but was what Martrim recommended. Mess wise, it'#039s fairly controllable, I did use 2 wallpaper pasting tables covered in some old curtains to catch the over spray. Your point about gaps could be valid, by and large it'#039s not been a problem, but the bits where you have to stretch the material i.e. round the horn, in the grab handle resess

Hey,
I need to replace both front lower arms on the golf.. I used to have a way through work to get parts via TPS but no longer do.
Where do most people get parts from? I’ve also used AUTODOC

In some ways that'#039s a good thing. It could be any part of the interior light circuit that causes the fuse to blow, but if the lights works for a minute or 2 and then they stop/the fuse blows, it would i think suggest that it could well be related to a bulb i.e. if there was a short circuit in a component, you'#039d expect the fuse to fail as soon as the short circuit was made e.g. sw

These are gen3 post 2007 modules that support power folding, underlights, reverse dip and mirror tinting. I tried fitting them to my pre 2007 car and while I could connect VCDS onto them, it wasnt working very well. They worked fine in my post 2007 car tho.
Also dont be fooled by "quotOh these modules are from a 2 door car so they wont work on a 4 door"quot. You can literally
